I love to have warm shower even though I live in a tropical country. I guess I grew up being told that always shower with warm water so as not to catch a cold which is a common believe with my parents many years ago.
As I grew up building my career, time slowly became scarce for me that I started to be “creative” in my time management. Back then, my office work was very challenging and I hardly see the sunrise or sunset. So one of the thing I “improvised” was to wash my face under the warm shower thinking it can save a bit of time in the morning when I have limited time to get ready, or during the night when I was too tired to wash my face elaborately.
Hence it became a routine set where I would step into the shower and wash my face when the water is warm and nice. However I noticed that my facial skin will always have red patches around my nose area and at my high cheek bones area. I was told that my skin is sensitive and acne prone etc which is nothing new to me. I tried different products over the years but my skin appearance remains the same.
One day, when I was looking to make a balm recipe for crack feet, researching which ingredients are best plus their heat sensitivity, I saw a link about red facial skin and why it happened. That was an eye opener for me and I went home and rectified the way I wash my face.
The article mentioned that prolong exposure to warm water can cause the skin to be more sensitive hence it caused the red patches on skin. That night, I washed my face over a basin with running tap water with my usual cleanser and guess what? There were hardly any red patches on my facial skin and I just kept staring at the mirror!
It was truly a simple change of method and solved a problem that was bugging me for so long. I will share with you more the benefits of washing face with warm water and how people with sensitive skin can improve their facial skin appearance by understanding how heat and finger pressure on our face can change the way the skin looks.
